3 Tips to Help You Find the Best Translation Agency!

Kudos to Google for making our lives so much easier. It’s not hard to find what you’re looking for on the internet, nor is it hard to find a translation agency when you need one. All you have to do is type in “Translation Agency” and click on the first result that comes up, because the first result is always the best, right? Actually, that’s wrong!

Many people have the misconception that Google prioritizes search results from best to worst. For the most part, this is incorrect and many factors play a role in determining what makes a result show up at the top of the list. You should never commit to working with a translation agency with the mentality that they are the best because they came up first in your search.

Here are 3 tips to help you determine whether or not an agency is credible and if you should consider working with them:

  1. Don’t judge a book by its cover

So, you went ahead with clicking on the first result and were redirected to a stunning, advanced website. If the agency’s website is at the top of its game, so are their services, right? Once again, that is wrong. Just because the website of a translation agency is eye-catching,  easy to use, and quite technologically advanced, this does not mean that they are your best choice. This leads us to number 2.

  1. Do your research

Click the back button on your browser and explore all the other search results that came up, not just the first one. Do some investigating and compare the most important things such as services that are offered, price list, turn-around time, and if they use Translators that are certified by a regulatory body such as ATIO, STIBC, or OTTIAQ. You may come to find that an agency which came up much lower in the list of results, offers more services and for better prices too. Many larger agencies charge higher prices so that they can acquire larger marketing budgets and present flashy campaigns. The ideal number of comparisons you should make is at minimum 3.

  1. Read Reviews

Don’t limit yourself to reading testimonials on the agency’s website. Almost 10/10 times only positive reviews are chosen to go on the site. Go out of your way to look at Google reviews, Facebook reviews etc. Look for textual reviews too. Don’t let a visual of 5 stars cloud your judgment and have you believe that the service is, in fact, worthy of 5 stars. You want to find detailed reviews with pros and cons. You’d be surprised to see the difference between a testimonial straight from the agency’s website page, and a review from an honest customer on their Facebook page.

Yes, it is much easier to just click on the first result that comes up and instantly solve your translation needs, but so much could go wrong by doing just that. Feel free to explore the Loretta Murphy Translations website, as well as to contact us to ask any questions.
