Things To Do On The Civic Long Weekend

Everyone at Loretta Murphy Translations wants you to spend the long weekend in the most entertaining ways possible. So we have compiled a list of activities going on every day starting Friday, August 4 and ending Monday, August 7. The origin of Civic Day dates back to the late 1800s when the government came to the conclusion that citizens required one more “day of unwinding” during the summer. Here are more than a few options to spend your Civic Day long weekend.

Friday:

Saturday:

• Concert: African Musical Extravaganza at Mel Lastman Square, Toronto | 1:00pm -10:00pm

• Simcoe Day (The Civic holiday was renamed Simcoe Day in Toronto in 1969 to pay tribute to the first Lieutenant-Governor leader of Upper Canada) is free and includes tours, drum music, historical cooking, live tactical demonstrations, displays of musketry, and cannons at Fort York (featured in photo above) | 10:00am-5:00pm
• Food Truck Festival at Woodbine Park 1695 Queen St E. Toronto | 5:00pm-10:00pm
